Looking Back at 2009

Posted under Hottest Designers, New Years Eve by theLennoxx on Saturday 2 January 2010 at 5:22 pm

I’ve been enjoying a lot of blog post lately with predictions of the trends to look out for in 2010. At the same time I will admit to not being very concerned about trends when it comes to interiors. Trendy decoration will fast become tiring, and it is only a matter of time before you get bored and want to jump on the next trend. Personal style is timeless, and you can layer it for years. Trendy or not, lets take a trip down memory lane and have a look at some of the fun trends of 2009. You can click each image to go to the original post:

Architectural Delight

Posted under Bedroom, Bright, Dramatic, Exotic, Kitchen, Living room, Purple, Red, Silver, Turquoise, Wallpaper / Tiles / Murals by theLennoxx on Sunday 22 November 2009 at 12:18 am

This fantastic apartment was featured in Architectural Digest as a Before and After feature. The thing that really strikes me, apart from the playful color palette, is the shiny ceilings:

*

turquoise moroccan style living room with gold ceiling

Turquoise  and chocolate brown living room. When you have a large feature that you want to stand out, like the huge silver mirror, you can “frame” it by opting for one chandelier on each side, instead of one in front. The gold ceiling is beautiful and functional as it reflects the light from the pair of lanterns. I am absolutely in love with the chocolate colored sofa.

*

deep purple aubergine living room

The second living room is a deep purple color, accented with various shades of blues and aubergine. The area rug is hot!

*

turquoise and white kitchen with gold ceiling, open plan solution

This turquoise and white kitchen is amazing! I love the seating area furniture!

*

red and silver bedroom, shiny wallpaper and ceiling

The bedroom walls and ceiling is completely covered in a patterned silver and white wall covering. The result is amazing, as the light is reflected everywhere, washing out all boundaries. It’s like a red bed in a cloud, lol!

Contemporary Emerald Green

Posted under Bright, Green, Hottest Designers, Living room, Modern by theLennoxx on Monday 7 September 2009 at 8:03 pm

Sherrill Canet is one of those designers that has the talent to create completely different design styles. Remember this nautical design we looked at here only a few days ago? Well, here is another of Sherrill’s works, a emerald green contemporary living room:

*

emerald green contemporart modern living room with black and white

Emerald green walls, gold ceiling and lots of black and white patterns.

*

green white black modern living room

Zebra skin mirror frame over a classic black marble fire place. No need to worry about mixing different styles.
