Matte Drama

Interior Design husband and wife team Stephen and Gail  Huberman of SGH Interiors are behind these dramatically beautiful interiors:

*

matte greige living room

All walls are painted a matte gray color with crisp white ceiling and dark hardwood floors. The end wall of this living room is devoted to displaying beautiful sculptural items on custom built shelves. Take a look at the beautiful Gothic style mirror over the fireplace, and the cowhide bench.

*

modern matte gray livng room with book shelf

Using the same color as the walls on the shelves and other larger pieces like this beautiful wing chair, other items really stands out, like that console table. It looks like a half wheel with arrow spokes. Wish we could see the rest of it.

*

modern living room matte greige

A folding wall with a blue and green landscape of trees is placed as a backdrop for what looks to be a staircase sculpture.

*

matte gray dining room

The “heavy” matte walls are repeatedly contrasted by tall transparent glass items such as candle sticks, vases and apothecary jars.  I really like the way this dining table is framed by the etageres.

*

black matte wall

Have you ever seen texture like this on a wall? Me neither!

Hot and Spicy: Moroccan Style

Posted under Bedroom, Bright, Dramatic, Exotic, Hallway/Entry, Hottest Designers, Living room, Lounge, Orange, Peach, Pink, Stairways by theLennoxx on Tuesday 16 February 2010 at 12:11 am

Lovely reader Hilary so kindly requested a Moroccan theme post as inspiration for her bedroom makeover. Ask and you shall receive! My first thought off cause went to these dreamy interiors by Jeffers Design Group:

*

moroccan style hallway vignette coral red saffron

This tiny seating area is a feast for the eye with it’s great shapes, proportion and color. Hypnotizing!

*

cream and pink moroccan stairway

The seating area is situated in a hallway in front of this staircase. I know the Moroccan style incorporates a lot of geometrical patterns and beautiful tiles, but I haven’t seen it combined into a beautiful hardwood floor like this before. And what do you think about the carpeting on the stairs? Looks like someone went up before and left a trail of rose petal for you to follow. Very inviting =)

*

peach moroccan style living room

This coral pink living room is topped off with a yellow ceiling and beige furniture. The furniture is pretty low set and simple in design, serving as the perfect backdrop for layering of pillows and fabrics of bright colors and beautiful pattern.

*

peachy pink living room

Those built in shelves!!

*

coral pink vignette

A simple but dramatic vignette with a mirror, two symmetrically arranged sculptures and a tray with silver tea service. The high gloss cabinet even has a tassel handle!

*

moroccan style bedroom

First thing you notice when walking through the door of this bedroom, apart from the fantastic door itself, has to be that ceiling.

*

moroccan themed style bedroom beige and coral pink

Golden beige bedroom with every possible shade and hue of coral. Spicy hot colors!

*

exotic bedroom

View from the bed. There are so much detail here, even the lamp shades have beaded fringes.

*

moroccan themed dressing room

I just could not leave this dressing room out.

*

When I think about Moroccan style interiors I think tassels, trays, big soft throw pillows and layering of hot fabrics. Oh yeah, the lanterns and incense too off cause!

Dreamy Colors

Posted under Bedroom, Blue, Bright, Classic, Dining room, Home office, Hottest Designers, Living room, Nursery/ Kids room, Soft/ Light, TV Camouflage, Turquoise by theLennoxx on Friday 12 February 2010 at 1:36 pm

San Francisco based interior design firm Coddington Design is behind these beautiful interiors:

*

light blue and beige cream classic iving room

Beautiful living room with a color palette of foggy light blue and creamy beige.  The scale and proportions in this room is great (pun not intended actually). Look at how tiny the coffee table comes out next to the tall furniture and high ceiling. Mounting straight curtains directly under the seiling helps too. These winged chairs suits my recent chair-upholstered-with-beautiful-pattern obsession perfectly! Do you think a TV screen is hiding in that cabinet? That would explain the size and placement.

*

light blue living room with upholstered winged chairs

The front of the chair is beige with deep buttoning, and the ceiling is the same color as the walls.

*

light blue living toom built in shef detail

The built in shelves on each side of the fireplace are painted blue inside to make them more a part of the wall. Check out the mirrored front.

*

beige and blue home office

The soft feminine lines definitely gives this tiny work station a  “wow factor”.

*

blue beige and green dining room

And this dining room, with its blue walls and carpets, takes a dramatic turn with a rich brown (or is it green?) ceiling. This is one of my favorite color combos; Light blue, creams and green. Just like my living room! And don’t get me started on the dining chairs.. Nail head trim AND door knocker detail? Perfect!

*

light blue baby nursery with metallic green bed

I couldn’t resist featuring this cute nursery. Blue walls with old pink decor. Perfect for boy or girl!

*

turquoise bedroom

And I wish we could see more of this super fresh bedroom. The reigning color of the year, turquoise always looks crispy clean when combined with white.

*

turquoise and white bedroom details

And since there are no other views of this room, we’ll zoom in on the details instead! Notice how many (barely) different shades of turquoise they fitted in here. And the inverted pattern color on the chair (right) is a great touch.

Top Shelf Decor

Posted under Hottest Designers, Posts with a POLL, Vignettes by theLennoxx on Tuesday 9 February 2010 at 12:36 am

What is your strategy when it comes to the top of your tall china cabinet, shelf or bookcase? Do you regard it as a place to stash away your most unsightly possessions, or do you take advantage of this space to display your finest vase collection? The images below definitely represent the latter possibility:

*

top shelf decoration cakestand collection

Interior Designer Eddie Ross decorated the top of this china cabinet with beautiful vintage (-looking?) crystal cake stands. The visually light glassware makes a fantastic contrast to the heavy furniture. Almost like it is topped off with a warm breeze!

*

top shelf vignette decor

This home office was decorated by Anna Orfanides of Anna O Design. Just like Eddie, Anna vent for transparent glassware, but this time representing all sorts of peculiar shapes. I see at least one vacuum filtration flask and a separation flask. Let’s conclude that this is the office of a chemist.

*

asian style living room with cabinet top decor

Interior Designer Olga Adler decorated the top of this cabinet too. I love how she used three large objects. Simple, uncluttered and definitely stylish.

*

Retro Glass and Vase Display

No one says you can’t bring in a bit (or a lot) of color. Color groupings like this catch your eye right away. Unless you are color blind.

*

white and blue vase collection display

Black & Spiro owner Anna Spiro decorated this tall cabinet to display a collection of beautiful blue and white ming-style vases.

Definitely cute!

Pin Up Chic

Ben Huckerby Design is behind these modern pin up chic interiors:

*

white modern lving room with pinup art

This living room gives me serous new years eve party vibes. It must be the black and white with the hints of metallic. Not to mention the champagne colored couch.

*

pinup art

A closer look at the wall art. I wonder why it was not placed directly behind the sofa?

*

white bedroom with pinup art

A very tall headboard padded with gray velour and purple teffeta throw pillows adds a bit of glam to this simple bedroom. Is it just me or is purple the ultimate color of glam?

*

pinup art in bedroom

Isn’t that Madonna in the print? You can order photography prints of your favorite stars here!

*

pinup art in hallway

This hallway has a feature wall of black and silver wallpaper with framed Marilyn Monroe prints.

*

black and brushed steel modern kitchen

Black and silver (err.. steel) is also the color scheme in this ultra modern kitchen. What do you think of glossy kitchen cabinets? Very bold wallpaper indeed!

Finally!

Posted under Asian, Dramatic, Grey, Hottest Designers, Living room, Mirror / Wall Acessory, Rugs and Carpets by theLennoxx on Wednesday 27 January 2010 at 2:44 pm

Before creating this website, I had a tiny file on my computer with my favorite interior pictures. That tiny file has grown into 500 files with 7000 images by the way. But I digress. Well, one of the pictures in that tiny file of mine was a smaller version of the pic below. Ever since then I have been in love with the print hanging over the sofa, but haven’t been able to find out anything about it. Yesterday as I was looking through the portfolio of Kwinter & Co Design, it turned up again, and now I am asking you if you happen to know anything about it?

*

gray living room with tropical forrest painting and mirrored wall

And here it is.

*

gray and purple modern living room with glass coffee table

Now let’s take a look at the rest of this gorgeous room. The living room is actually white with rich gray carpeting and a beige cowhide flower rug (available here). The wall behind the gray velour sofa is completely covered in mirrors. Nice glass coffee table too.

*

grey and purple modern living room

Side view. Black lamp shades are pretty and creates a good mood, but is not for lighting up, that’s for sure. But who cares when you have windows like that in the living room?

*

modern living room

A folding screen is mounted on the wall as artwork behind a white cabinet.

*

Here is a closer look at the deep brown armchairs. Beautiful carvings and nailhead trim.

Actress Molly Sims’ Home

I came across these pictures of actress Molly Sims’ beautiful home on Luxist, and as I saw the kitchen photo, I remembered reading about this home on Interior designer Kiahani Perera’s blog. Kishani, one of my favorite designers, is in fact a good friend of our actress, and is behind Molly’s Hollywood Hills home, so let’s take a look:

(you can click the pics to see full size on Luxist)

*

celebrity actress molly sims home front door

Molly has a white house with beautiful black details. I really like the larger-than-life potted trees, very simple and dramatic.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home dining room

This is Molly’s dining room. Like the facade, the walls are white and the floors and trim is black. The blue velvet dining chairs looks super soft and comfy.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home living room

On the other side of the fireplace wall is a living area.  Let us take a closer look:

*

Gray sofas with purple throw pillows and a glass chandelier to add a bit of glamour.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home white kitchen

The kitchen is white with marble counter tops and brushed steel kitchen appliances.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home white marble kitchen

I love how the glassware is arranged by color in the cabinet.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home kids room wide

Isn’t this little girls room adorable?

*

celebrity actress molly sims home black white pink girls room

This is definitely a room to grow up in.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home seafoam green master bedroom

This I presume is the master bedroom. It is  seafoam green and white, with a huge bed with nailhead trim. Love the pops of color brought in by the purple lampshades. This room was later painted a deep grey, which, according to Kishani “complrtely transformed the vibe of the space from beachy to moody”.

See the result on Kishani’s blog here.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home white bathroom

The bathroom is white too.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home second living room

Here is the second living room, with a flatscreen TV.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home office

Last but not least is Molly’s home office. I have posted some images of this room before on this website, and here are some more:

The wall seems a lot more purple in these photos.

Bewitching Colors

David Kaplan is the designer behind this beautiful home of blues and pinks:

*

modern lavender blue living roo with pink purple sofa

This beautiful light blue living room is decorated very subtly paying close attention to pattern, texture and dimension.

*

lilac and pink purple living room modern

I think this color palette is absolutely fantastic. The colors really play off of each other. Bright, but toned down.

*

purple lilac and gold living room

Take a look at the different chairs on this room. Very sculptural.

*

lilac purple fireplace mantle

David mixes a lot of metals and metal colors in this room. Just look at the coffee table with the gold picture frames. I really like how he painted the whole mantel the same color as the walls, and used a slightly deeper tone on the molding.

*

purple lilac dining room

The dining area is the same wall color, it might possibly be an open plan solution with the living room. Even the window frames are blue. The black dining table is very visually heavy (and probably physically heavy too), but perfectly balanced out by very light feminine chairs and beautiful flowers and chandelier.

*

romantic lilac vignette

In open plan solutions I often notice wall paneling is used to define the living room, like in this one.

*

gray dresser

Beautiful dresser.

*

purple and lilac stairway

An accent wall in a stairway. Great idea to add some color and depth!

Classic, Pretty

Today we’ll look at some beautiful designs by Caroline Edwards:

*

classic living room cream and blue with fireplace and chandelier

This beautiful living room is decorated in cream and beige. Take a look at those chairs. Reminds me of this chair by Mrs Howard Personal Shopper.

*

beautiful classic living room

A closer look at the fireplace and seating area. Perfect symmetry, and the fireplace frames the pretty chandelier beautifully.

*

classic home office

Beautiful home office. And do I detect another TV-in-mantel solution like this one?

*

modern bedroom caramel colors

Beautiful caramel colored bedroom. This is real eye candy (yes, that is my attempt at a pun.. lame I know)

*

17

Simple clean lines, but not bare and boring. Masculine with a feminine touch?

*

classic dining room

There is nothing masculine about this lovey dining area. Notice how only the two end chairs have arm rests. Nice detail.
