Aqua and Yellow Retro

The thing that really strikes me with this room is the surprising mix of classic beauty with 70’s crazyness!

Take this detail image of the bed for example. The canopy is a classic, while the aqua thread wallpaper is flat out retro.

My parents used to have the exact same wallpaper, and my cat used it as a scratch board… Blue threads were sticking out all over, lol!

Blue and yellow window seat in the same bedroom. White valances for pretty, gray blinds for effect!

Colorful floral wallpaper adorns this mini bathroom.

You know this is going to be a fun experience when the entry door is decorated with huge metal peacocks!

White living room with polished black floor and a gold (!) ceiling. The room is accented with the complimentary color pair orange and blue.

Hot doorway!

The details of this window are so pretty! Comes through perfectly with the black and white color scheme.

Super dramatic black bedroom with shiny white floors. Bedside lamps mounted on the ceiling is a great solution for a tiny bedroom.

The white iron patio furniture is covered with multi colored- and patterned cushions. LOL at the birdcage in the sun umbrella! Hippie chic?

Modern Retro Loft

This modern retro style loft apartment is designed by Interior Designer Lori Dennis. The Living room has a feature wall and ceiling of raw concrete and bare pipes. I love how Lori has worked this industrial look into the design instead of covering it up and painting the walls. You can click the pics for a larger view:

Brown suede sofa and two cream Barcelona chairs. Can you believe this chair was designed in 1929?

Very simple and uncluttered. I adore oversized plants!

The mix of patterns makes all the difference. Anyone know the artist behind that beautiful painting? The crystal table lamp is available here.

Modern white kitchen. If you look closely to the left, you can see she has planted orchids in apothecary jars, what a great idea! Mini terrarium.

Modern white bedroom. That bed is hot!

I think the pillow fabric is beautiful! Do you like it?

Don’t you just love the quirky color combination in this home office? The room is white, with the trimmings in a tender blue-green. The real kicker is the yellow! This is the kind of room where you wander around, discovering new details all along. What about the goat under the desk? and is that a door in the dresser (last pic)? Cream apartment living room with cobalt blue accents. The repeated pattern (people) in the painting makes it look almost like wallpaper..

The cream theme is continued into the bedroom, where one wall is painted aqua.

Fun geometric pattern rug.

I love the idea of painting the ceiling something other than white. A darker color gives a nestled feel. This cream dining room has a deep blue ceiling. What do you think?

This huge ceiling lamp adds to the overwhelming look of the ceiling, almost like looking up at a thunderstorm?
