Swedish Antique Home

Just came accross this beautiful house featured in The Washington Post in June 09. This charming house with the green glazed tile roof and wondow shutters is owned by  Loi Thai and partner  Thomas Troeschel. The two are also the owners of  Tone on Tone, a shop specializing in 18th and 19th century painted Swedish antiques.

*

charming white house with green roof

Let’s start with the exterior. Simple and pretty. The front door was actually moved from the centre to the side of the house.

*

charming romantic white cream beige and gray living room

The whole of the inside is painted the same pale gray color with crisp white trim and pale floors of white bleached wide-plank oak. Loi is quoted in The Washington Post saying “as you can see, I’m my best customer.” True dat. See how they use contrast to define the space (black glasstop coffee table). They have also used the magic of texture and patterns to keep the room from looking bland and boring.

*

beautiful light dining room gray white

The kitchen is equally neutral and elegant, with the counters almost blending into the walls. The green pandant lamps ads a  kick and brings the kitchen island into focus.

*

beautiful light bedroom

The chair at the desk is actually a slipcovered Parsons chair from Ikea. Talk about having an eye for mixing. I would never have guessed..

*

beautiful white and gray lving room

The classic dining table (on wheels might I add) and the lantern are definitely the focal points of this dining room. Wonder what the dining  chair cushions are covered with?

*

Loi has a unique approach to his precious antique furniture, saying  “… this type of furniture only gets better when it gets beat-up.” From looking at his home, I was very surprised about his down to earth approach to decorating when reading his interview. Read the whole article here, it is definitely interesting!

Glamorous Fairytale Bedroom

This dreamy bedroom is designed by Kate McIntyre and was featured in Traditional Home:

*

glamorous beige and purple bedroom with fairytale wallpaper wallcovering

The walls are covered with reindeer and trees, with the ceiling picking up the lilac tones from the wall. The four poster bed is placed on a custom hand sown cowhide rug in various shades of cream.

*

Color palette for this look!

*

glam fairytale bedroom

The fairytale wall covering is actually a mural. The Four poster bed is custom made in polished cattle bone (which is kinda grotesque..?). Take a look at the beautiful clove leaf details on the headboard.

Just beautiful!

This cabinet is also custom made with metallic doors and branch pulls.

Sunshine Beige

As the sky keeps falling down on our heads in the form of big fluffy sow flakes, here are some warm sunny interiors brought to you by the one and only Pottery Barn. I love the atmosphere in all of these photos, as well as the touches of fresh green plants and flowers. Dear Spring- we are ready for your arrival!!

cream and blue living room

I really love this picture, just want to jump into that soft sofa and grab that yellow book on interior design =D

*

potterybarn glass base lamps with plant decor

These clear glass base vases are so cute and versatile. Your imagination is your only limit here. The electrical cord is very visible though.

*

cream beige dining room

Round dining table on a round area rug. Gotta love a great storage solution. Wonder what I would store under the table if I had one..? Very creative vase too.

*

tiny cupcakes in tiny cakestand

How cute are these tiny cake stands with even tinier cupcakes on them? One for each guest maybe?

*

These looks so good they deserve their own closeup.

*

come bar stand

The biggest treat of browsing Pottery Barn’s website is all the super cute and totally doable decor, like the fresh green leafs submerged in water in the apothecary jars. Oh, and one jar dedicated to vine corks. Very befitting and practical at a vine “bar”.

*

wild bedroom with fern bedspread

Fern leafs and all kinds of botanical prints are very popular right now. I see it literally everywhere. And I adore this bedroom =)

*

Are you longing for spring as much as I do?

Soothing Blues

Anne Coyle designed this beautiful living room with a color palette of cool soothing blues with vibrant pops of pink and coral:

cold blue and lilac living room

I love a good symmetric layout, and that coffee table is gorgeous!

*

cool color living room

Side view. Would you use cool colors like this in your home?

*

Anne Coyle design color palette

The paint color looks like Benjamin Moore Silver Cloud.

cool blue and lilac living room with fireplace

The wall opposite of the sofa has a beautiful fireplace and a cozy seating area for two. I have noticed that art pieces like the one  above this mantle is often used with light blue color schemes, like in this and this previous post. Coincidence? Light blue does look great combined with metallics.

Dreamy Colors

San Francisco based interior design firm Coddington Design is behind these beautiful interiors:

*

light blue and beige cream classic iving room

Beautiful living room with a color palette of foggy light blue and creamy beige.  The scale and proportions in this room is great (pun not intended actually). Look at how tiny the coffee table comes out next to the tall furniture and high ceiling. Mounting straight curtains directly under the seiling helps too. These winged chairs suits my recent chair-upholstered-with-beautiful-pattern obsession perfectly! Do you think a TV screen is hiding in that cabinet? That would explain the size and placement.

*

light blue living room with upholstered winged chairs

The front of the chair is beige with deep buttoning, and the ceiling is the same color as the walls.

*

light blue living toom built in shef detail

The built in shelves on each side of the fireplace are painted blue inside to make them more a part of the wall. Check out the mirrored front.

*

beige and blue home office

The soft feminine lines definitely gives this tiny work station a  “wow factor”.

*

blue beige and green dining room

And this dining room, with its blue walls and carpets, takes a dramatic turn with a rich brown (or is it green?) ceiling. This is one of my favorite color combos; Light blue, creams and green. Just like my living room! And don’t get me started on the dining chairs.. Nail head trim AND door knocker detail? Perfect!

*

light blue baby nursery with metallic green bed

I couldn’t resist featuring this cute nursery. Blue walls with old pink decor. Perfect for boy or girl!

*

turquoise bedroom

And I wish we could see more of this super fresh bedroom. The reigning color of the year, turquoise always looks crispy clean when combined with white.

*

turquoise and white bedroom details

And since there are no other views of this room, we’ll zoom in on the details instead! Notice how many (barely) different shades of turquoise they fitted in here. And the inverted pattern color on the chair (right) is a great touch.

Hexagonal Marble Tiles

Posted under Bathroom, Classic, Posh, Wallpaper / Tiles / Murals, White by theLennoxx on Friday 5 February 2010 at 7:54 pm

Lately I have developed a minor obsession with glossy bathroom floors. More specifically; white hexagonal marble tiles paired with a good source of natural light (i.e. big windows). The result is a beautifully glistening floor, almost like fish scales. Here are some of my favourite pictures:

*

White classic bathroom with freestanding tub and white hexagonal marble tiles

This gorgeous bathroom was featured in Architectural Digest. The tiles looks to be uniformly white with a gray spacer or grout.

*

beautiful classic bathroom with shiny white tiles

This bathroom is designed by Lori Tippins, I remember reading somewhere that it is her own bathroom.  See how the daylight makes the floor glisten.

(Photo cred to Holly of Things that Inspire)

*

seafoam green and white classic bathroom

This is also a Lori Tippins design, and it proves that even a tiny window can give the shine effect.

*

classic bathroom gray grey and white

This bathroom is designed by Catalano Inc and has a gray (or blue?) super glossy floor. The tiles looks to be square, not hexagonal, but gorgeous nonetheless. That’s not a modest sized window either.

*

glossy hexagonal bathroom tiles

This beauty is designed by Alicia Friedman. She used a larger hex pattern, and I think it looks absolutely gorgeous. What do you think?

*

Fun fact: After looking through these picture again it hit me what really attracted me to these bathrooms. It is the gorgeous contrast between the glossy tiles and the matte painted walls. Have I subconciously grown tired of tiled bathroom walls?

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Home

I think it is really fascinating to look into the homes of the rich and famous, as they have all the means to create the perfect home. This time we will take a look into actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s Long Island home. So here we go:

Actress Molly Sims’ Home

I came across these pictures of actress Molly Sims’ beautiful home on Luxist, and as I saw the kitchen photo, I remembered reading about this home on Interior designer Kiahani Perera’s blog. Kishani, one of my favorite designers, is in fact a good friend of our actress, and is behind Molly’s Hollywood Hills home, so let’s take a look:

(you can click the pics to see full size on Luxist)

*

Molly has a white house with beautiful black details. I really like the larger-than-life potted trees, very simple and dramatic.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home dining room

This is Molly’s dining room. Like the facade, the walls are white and the floors and trim is black. The blue velvet dining chairs looks super soft and comfy.

*

On the other side of the fireplace wall is a living area.  Let us take a closer look:

Gray sofas with purple throw pillows and a glass chandelier to add a bit of glamour.

*

The kitchen is white with marble counter tops and brushed steel kitchen appliances.

I love how the glassware is arranged by color in the cabinet.

*

Isn’t this little girls room adorable?

*

This is definitely a room to grow up in.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home seafoam green master bedroom

This I presume is the master bedroom. It is  seafoam green and white, with a huge bed with nailhead trim. Love the pops of color brought in by the purple lampshades. This room was later painted a deep grey, which, according to Kishani “complrtely transformed the vibe of the space from beachy to moody”.

See the result on Kishani’s blog here.

*

The bathroom is white too.

*

Here is the second living room, with a flatscreen TV.

*

celebrity actress molly sims home office

Last but not least is Molly’s home office. I have posted some images of this room before on this website, and here are some more:

Today we’ll look at some beautiful designs by Caroline Edwards:

*

classic living room cream and blue with fireplace and chandelier

This beautiful living room is decorated in cream and beige. Take a look at those chairs. Reminds me of this chair by Mrs Howard Personal Shopper.

*

beautiful classic living room

A closer look at the fireplace and seating area. Perfect symmetry, and the fireplace frames the pretty chandelier beautifully.

*

classic home office

Beautiful home office. And do I detect another TV-in-mantel solution like this one?

*

modern bedroom caramel colors

Beautiful caramel colored bedroom. This is real eye candy (yes, that is my attempt at a pun.. lame I know)

*

Simple clean lines, but not bare and boring. Masculine with a feminine touch?

*

There is nothing masculine about this lovey dining area. Notice how only the two end chairs have arm rests. Nice detail.

Gray by Mimi Williams

Posted under Bedroom, Classic, Dining room, Grey, Hottest Designers, Living room, Lounge, Mirror / Wall Acessory, Soft/ Light, Stairways by theLennoxx on Thursday 7 January 2010 at 4:25 pm

Today we’ll look at some of the work of Interior Designer Mimi Williams. I am not sure if this is a private home or not, because it looks amazingly large, with two living room seating areas and two dining areas. What I do know is that it looks absolutely fantastic!

*

gray living room seating area

The whole of the home is decorated in a subtle gray. Three tiny glass tables instead of one large. Fun idea!

*

gray living room seating area 2

The second seating area. Have you noticed the trend of using dark tables to light colored seating?

*

gray and white dining room

This dining room has two identical seating areas symmetrically arranged around a cozy fireplace. The second dining room is to the right in this image.

*

gray dining room with massive table

And here it is. Notice the fantastic eagle claws and glass ball table foots. I love how Mimi used only a few large accent pieces in this dining room. Very dramatic.

*

black and white staircase

Beautiful lines on this staircase, underlined by the choice of black and white on the railing.

*

gray and white bedroom

Take a look at that headboard. Very sculptural, like the back on the adjacent chair.
