Actress Molly Sims’ Home
I came across these pictures of actress Molly Sims’ beautiful home on Luxist, and as I saw the kitchen photo, I remembered reading about this home on Interior designer Kiahani Perera’s blog. Kishani, one of my favorite designers, is in fact a good friend of our actress, and is behind Molly’s Hollywood Hills home, so let’s take a look:
(you can click the pics to see full size on Luxist)

Molly has a white house with beautiful black details. I really like the larger-than-life potted trees, very simple and dramatic.
*
This is Molly’s dining room. Like the facade, the walls are white and the floors and trim is black. The blue velvet dining chairs looks super soft and comfy.
*
On the other side of the fireplace wall is a living area. Let us take a closer look:
*
Gray sofas with purple throw pillows and a glass chandelier to add a bit of glamour.
*
The kitchen is white with marble counter tops and brushed steel kitchen appliances.
*
I love how the glassware is arranged by color in the cabinet.
*
Isn’t this little girls room adorable?
*
This is definitely a room to grow up in.
*
This I presume is the master bedroom. It is seafoam green and white, with a huge bed with nailhead trim. Love the pops of color brought in by the purple lampshades. This room was later painted a deep grey, which, according to Kishani “complrtely transformed the vibe of the space from beachy to moody”.
See the result on Kishani’s blog here.
*
The bathroom is white too.
*
Here is the second living room, with a flatscreen TV.
*
Last but not least is Molly’s home office. I have posted some images of this room before on this website, and here are some more:
*

The wall seems a lot more purple in these photos.

Here is the same office, revamped for a photo shoot for Molly Sims’ jewelry line.

And here is the beautiful actress in her equally beautiful home!

Gray by Mimi Williams
Today we’ll look at some of the work of Interior Designer Mimi Williams. I am not sure if this is a private home or not, because it looks amazingly large, with two living room seating areas and two dining areas. What I do know is that it looks absolutely fantastic!
*

The whole of the home is decorated in a subtle gray. Three tiny glass tables instead of one large. Fun idea!
*

The second seating area. Have you noticed the trend of using dark tables to light colored seating?
*

This dining room has two identical seating areas symmetrically arranged around a cozy fireplace. The second dining room is to the right in this image.
*

And here it is. Notice the fantastic eagle claws and glass ball table foots. I love how Mimi used only a few large accent pieces in this dining room. Very dramatic.
*

Beautiful lines on this staircase, underlined by the choice of black and white on the railing.
*

Take a look at that headboard. Very sculptural, like the back on the adjacent chair.
*

Romantic Beige
*
Nice romantic living room. I love this very neutral shade of beige, it is a perfect warm background color when you want to add a few color pops. Love the fireplace in the fireplace solution too.
*
Beautiful beige daybed. Anyone know who designed it?
*
A bedroom with a lot of inspiring words to start the day on a good note.
*
Double sinks placed in front of a window, what a great use of space! You would probably need a vanity table for doing hair and makeup, with a great opertunety to check the result in natural daylight before you leave the house =)
*
Now this is a great looking home office!

Modern Grays
*

A lovely gray living room. The large clean surfaces are broken up with subtle patterns and textures on fabrics, adding depth and interest to the room. The focal point of this room is obviously the fantastic painting over the sofa:
*

I love these painting, but I can’t for the life of me remember who the artist is. Do you?
UPDATE: It hit me like a rock; painting is by James Nares!!
*

This is a second seating area. Those sofas are the hotness!
*

Gorgeous greige bedroom with a simple seating area for relaxing with a good book.

Mediterranean Dream Home
Lets sneak a peek into a gorgeous mediterranean home:
*

Dramatic foyer with pilars and a seating area. The walls are a creamy shade of beige throughout the house, with dark stained wood furniture and tall indoor palms.
*

Here is another view of this lovely seating area. Rich brown carpet with crisp white sofa. Looks very fresh and clean.
*

I’m already in love with the fabric on these dining chairs.
*

The cozy living room. Love the diamond pattern on the sisal carpet. Looks like one window is turned into a mini library!
*

Sisal carpet on the patio seating area too. More hot fabric patterns and colors, but where is the “coffee” table? lol!
*

Rustic kitchen with raw bricks and heavy wood counters. I have noticed that despite the style of kitchen, there are always the stainless steel appliances.
*

The tub is built into a corner, with a pilar on each side. Now that’s fancy!
*

Lovely details. That carved lamp is so pretty..
*

Back to where we started, the foryer. This staircase is spectacular!

Nautical Design by Kelly Wearstler
This gorgeous nautical design is actually in a real yacht, believe it on not. All walls and built-in furniture is clad in glossy wood panels. The color scheme is consistent throughout, constituting crisp white, charcoal gray and a fresh and fun saffron:
*

Super modern and cozy living room area, with ghost-framed stools and a built-in TV.
*

Another view of the living area. You can see the dining area and kitchen in the background.
*

This white marlin sculpture is gorgeous!
*

The master suite is so pretty. Love the anchor-motif pillows!

Hot Room Makeovers!
I really love these makeovers performed by Judith Balis of Nest Instinctual interior:

Living room After:

Working from a clean slate, this classic cream walled room is given a modern look with dark hardwood floors, turquoise walls and white trimmings. For this style be sure to mix pieces from different eras, like modern black and white striped sofa with hot pink Victorian chairs. I love how the fire place brick were painted black.

Wow, what a transformation! The before kitchen was so dark and
Gorgeous Green Bedroom
This beachy green and white bedroom is designed by Amanda Nisbet:
*

Green natural fiber wall covering with medium stained hardwood floor and gray rug. This bed frame is so coastal!
*

The seating area consists of a white chaise lounge with green trimmings. The weave pillow looks great and adds to the beachy feel, but I bet is looks a lot better than it feels, lol. Oh, and the pressed 60’s swimsuit is the best idea ever!

Soft Hues by Janet Lohman
*

Cream bedroom with hints of green and blue. The mirrored wall behind the bed makes this bedroom look huge.
*

I love timeless rooms like these, they take very little money and effort to keep trendy, just change the table lamps and pillow covers, and you have a whole new look!
*

The cozy guest bedroom of creams, beige and a foggy medium blue.
*

Cream living room with a few dashes of olive green.
Coastal Country Style..?
Take a look at these gorgeous bedroom by photographer Burcu Avsar:
*

I love the combination of country and coastal style here. A simple color palette of foggy blue and white, decorated with sea stars and seasehlls..
*
The ruffles and bows are very country. Take a look at the gorgeous seashell carpet!
*

Cute blue and white bathroom too.
