For Coastal Cottage Color Lovers!
Have you heard of Russell & Mackenna? Well it is a company specializing in beach cottage style furniture. Unlike most furniture companies, you get to design the furniture to fit perfectly into your home! You can choose between 33 vibrant colors and add the trim and knobs you want. For upholstered furniture there are 53 beautiful fabrics to choose from. Needless to say, this is fun! Lets check out some of their colorful furniture:
*

Bright turquoise walls with beige and yellow. This surf chic living room is all about happy colors.
*

That shade of turquoise is a bit on the bright side for me, but I love how it is repeated throughout the accents. And btw I am strangely attracted to the sofa fabric.. so pretty!
*

Now this is a cute dining area! The beige, turquoise and yellow work perfectly together.
*

Purple side table with orange fishes. Almost like a built-in vignette. No worries about decorating that table top!
*

This must be the most crazy color combo yet. I feel like a cartoon character just by looking at it! I would think any weather would be gray when you walk out of this entryway.
*

This lavender blue, turquoise and green nursery is the cutest! The wave detail on the crib is my favorite part.
*

More waves in this bedroom. I see 6 fishes.
*

Orange and pink is one of my favorite color combos. Perfect for a little girls room.
*
To make it even more fun, Russell & Mackenna is offering you, my wonderful readers, 40 % off of all furniture in their online store!

The sales code is LYK34KXX.

These colorful rooms really reminded me of Jane Coslick’s design style, check out her site for some more inspiration!
Classic Cream
Today’s divine designs are created by California based brother- and design duo Ryan and Joshua Brown of Brown Design Inc:
*

The walls, carpet and curtains are all the same perfect shade of creamy beige, setting a perfect backdrop for the dark coffee table. I could move in here in the blink of an eye, and would not change a thing. Perfect!
*

Camel colored couch, decorated with throw pillows one shade lighter than the walls, one shade darker than the couch, and every shade and texture in between.
*

White bedroom with a beige wallpapered feature wall. That is my favorite hardwood floor stain (at the moment), so rich and warm.
*

Beautiful flowing lines in that blue and cream area rug.
*

Have you ever seen a bench seat like this before? Spectacular lines!
*

Now this is a bathroom! I adore the dark window frames against the soft beige walls, and the tiles are just fabulous. Perfect balance between classic and modern elements.
*
If you enjoyed these images, make sure to view them on the flash site of Brown Design Inc. as they look so much better in full scale!
Colorfest by Kishani Perera!
I absolutely adore Kishani Perera’s use of color, I can’t think of anyone who uses color the same way as this girl. Take a look:
*

Coral red and antique-white two bed guest bedroom. The headboards are HOT! The bright color and bold fabric gives this room a 70’s vibe, but still it is so “now”!
*

This spectacular living room is painted a glossy gray all over. Even the huge bookshelf, which is placed directly behind the sofa, by the way. Hints of purple adds a regal touch, all topped of with a huge crystal chandelier.
*

Two shades of purple in this super modern bedroom. The crisp white details really pop!
*

Divine pink dining room. Nothing softens a room like light translucent curtains.. And what about the carpet? It’s pretty fabulous, right?
*

Orange hallway with crisp white furniture and accents. The lamp is designed by Jonathan Adler:
*
*
How about you? Are you bold enough to take on bright colors like these? Do you think you would grow bored of a bright color quicker than of a neutral color?

Mediterranean Dream Home
Lets sneak a peek into a gorgeous mediterranean home:
*

Dramatic foyer with pilars and a seating area. The walls are a creamy shade of beige throughout the house, with dark stained wood furniture and tall indoor palms.
*

Here is another view of this lovely seating area. Rich brown carpet with crisp white sofa. Looks very fresh and clean.
*

I’m already in love with the fabric on these dining chairs.
*

The cozy living room. Love the diamond pattern on the sisal carpet. Looks like one window is turned into a mini library!
*

Sisal carpet on the patio seating area too. More hot fabric patterns and colors, but where is the “coffee” table? lol!
*

Rustic kitchen with raw bricks and heavy wood counters. I have noticed that despite the style of kitchen, there are always the stainless steel appliances.
*

The tub is built into a corner, with a pilar on each side. Now that’s fancy!
*

Lovely details. That carved lamp is so pretty..
*

Back to where we started, the foryer. This staircase is spectacular!

Bright Ideas by Sara Story
Interior Designer Sara Story shows you a new way to set color to your home. Leave the walls white while you paint the ceiling and floor!
*

A long narrow room like this kitchen is perfect for some ceiling color. But the deep purple ceiling aside, check out the gorgeous painted pattern on the hardwood floors!
*

(nice lamp!)
*

This long and narrow hallway has a yellow painted ceiling. Check out the dot pattern outlining the gray walls!
*

Another hallway. That bold patterned wallpaper is hot!

Room Designs with Asian Flare
*

This hallway is so pretty! The walls are gold with crisp white detailing and forest-green accents. Even the dark stained hardwood floors are gorgeous. I am always drawn to symmetry, and Olga Adler, the designer of these rooms, uses it to its fullest extent! You can get that mirror from Pottery Barn by the way.
*

I’m guessing the color choice of this room was inspired by that lovely painting? You can peek into the dining room from here.
*

Pineapple chandelier! Lovely wood furniture and accents in this dining room.
*

Is it the new trend to make your guests walk three steps to put down their coffee cup? lol! (Remember how Robert Coututier solved this?)
*

The Chinese lattice wall art and mirror frames are really hot right now (and have been for a while)!
*

Gorgeous symmetry around this china cabinet.
*

A fitted bathroom unit. My favorite ting in this bathroom is…
*

That gorgeous leaf-shaped wall scone!

Exotic Home by Robert Couturier
*

Tropical living room. I get an ancient Egyptian vibe from this wallpaper, the way those palm (?) leafs are laid out.
*

Who wouldn’t love to have a suspended hammock-divan in their living room? Robert placed one sofa on each side of the room, a huge coffee table in the middle, and a small wooden coffee table in front of each sofa.
*

The dining room walls are decorated with red and gold fabrics. Check out that dining table! I think it has little wheels too.
*

The foyer has a gorgeous bamboo wallpaper and a Chinese cabinet. I love how all the rooms are decorated with huge green leafs!

Top Model Home!!
This home is part of the Nations Next Top Model Home competition, where 7 designers each were given $5,000 and 28 days to transform a home. You can read more about the challenge here. You can also cast your vote on your favorite design! Let’s take a look at one of the entries, this one is by interior designer Jill Shevlin:
*

Love how the colors of both living room and dining room are picked up in the stripes in the hallway. Horizontal stripes also makes the hall look longer, and has a calming effect.
*

A smokey tone of blue (blue with black in it) is a perfect choice if you want to create a contrast with white.
*

The walls are blue, detailing and seating furniture is white, while coffee- and side tables are dark. I love the little dog bed in the lowest shelf there. Cutest detail!
*

The mantle is decorated with sea stars and silver vases. This carpet is perfect!
*

Another view.
*

The dining room is clad in natural fiber wallpaper with white 1/3 paneling. I would love to see a nice carpet here.
*
You can see more pics from Jill’s entry here, and make sure to cast your vote on your fave!!

Colorful DIY Idea by Thomas Jayne
Here is a great idea for sprucing up your home without using too much time and money; instead of painting your whole wall, draw up a square and fill it in with your favourite color:
*
Olive green mural in the hall.
*
If you can’t decide on a color, why not use two? One pink and one blue mural in this living room.
*
Colorful dining room with a pink mural.
*
And last but not least, the bedroom.
