The focal point of this room is definitely the fireplace. It looks really tall. The wall above the mantel is decorated with a huge frame-less mirror with a round mirror framed in branches, layered above. I’ve seen a lot of mirror-on-mirror action lately. Do you like it?

See how the window is framed in a semi-circular arch from the inside, but is actually square.

The dining room is just the right balance between formal and casual. I like to call it “liveable”.

Is that a porcelain cabbage?

The sconces flanking the mirror picks up the deep color of the hardware. But I wonder if they were hung unevenly like that on purpose? What do you think?

The foyer is light and welcoming with its white walls and dark floors. I like how it is kept really clean and simple. On another note, you won’t be late for anything with a clock that size..

For good measure, here is what the house looks like from the outside. I guess it’s a mansion rather than a house? Either way, it is simply beautiful.

Let’s start with the exterior. Simple and pretty. The front door was actually moved from the centre to the side of the house.

*

The whole of the inside is painted the same pale gray color with crisp white trim and pale floors of white bleached wide-plank oak. Loi is quoted in The Washington Post saying “as you can see, I’m my best customer.” True dat. See how they use contrast to define the space (black glasstop coffee table). They have also used the magic of texture and patterns to keep the room from looking bland and boring.

The kitchen is equally neutral and elegant, with the counters almost blending into the walls. The green pandant lamps ads a  kick and brings the kitchen island into focus.

The chair at the desk is actually a slipcovered Parsons chair from Ikea. Talk about having an eye for mixing. I would never have guessed..

The classic dining table (on wheels might I add) and the lantern are definitely the focal points of this dining room. Wonder what the dining  chair cushions are covered with?

Loi has a unique approach to his precious antique furniture, saying  “… this type of furniture only gets better when it gets beat-up.” From looking at his home, I was very surprised about his down to earth approach to decorating when reading his interview. In this white bedroom Madeline used a black four poster bed and covered the back with a dark material for a snug headboard look. The simple lines is softened with a fluffy white area rug. Love the crude wood side table.

Who wouldn’t want a view like that from their living room?

This home is pretty modern with clean lines and bare surfaces. The raw stone brick wall is a sure way to add some cabin flavor, warm and perfect for a cozy seating area.  That tiny orange stool totally looks like a crab!

The kitchen is very modern with clean lines and brushed steel. I’m usually not a fan of steel overload, but I think it is really well balanced out here with the dark stained wood cabinets and floors. What do You think?

The dining room is separated from the kitchen with a sliding barn door. Love that table, what are those called? Looks fantastic combined with the glam nail head trimmed chairs and chandelier.

The flower cowhide rug is from the Rug Company. At first I was wondering what was the thought behind the branch in the ceiling, till I saw the tiny lamps on it. It must be a (very creative) lamp!

The crisp white walls of this living room is balanced with warmer beige floors and an area rug. Seafoam green and smokey blue, perhaps inspired by the beautiful landscape art behind the sofa, brings that beachy feel. Pops of bright rusty red adds warmth and a lot of interest.

This light airy living room is transformed into a cozy space with the help of animal print and warm natural materials. I really like the dropcloth slipcover on the couch. This must be the absolute easiest way to maintain a white sofa!

This raw brick fireplace is matched up with dark wood dining room furniture and animal print. Even the firewood storage adds to this look. Love the beautiful layered photos over the fireplace.

More specifically; white hexagonal marble tiles paired with a good source of natural light (i.e. big windows). The result is a beautifully glistening floor, almost like fish scales. Here are some of my favourite pictures:

This gorgeous bathroom was featured in Architectural Digest. The tiles looks to be uniformly white with a gray spacer or grout.

This bathroom is designed by Lori Tippins, I remember reading somewhere that it is her own bathroom.  See how the daylight makes the floor glisten.

This is also a Lori Tippins design, and it proves that even a tiny window can give the shine effect.

This bathroom is designed by Catalano Inc and has a gray (or blue?) super glossy floor. The tiles looks to be square, not hexagonal, but gorgeous nonetheless. That’s not a modest sized window either.

This beauty is designed by Alicia Friedman. She used a larger hex pattern, and I think it looks absolutely gorgeous. What do you think?

Fun fact: After looking through these picture again it hit me what really attracted me to these bathrooms. It is the gorgeous contrast between the glossy tiles and the matte painted walls. Have I subconciously grown tired of tiled bathroom walls?

Kishani, one of my favorite designers, is in fact a good friend of our actress, and is behind Molly’s Hollywood Hills home, so let’s take a look:

Molly has a white house with beautiful black details. I really like the larger-than-life potted trees, very simple and dramatic.

This is Molly’s dining room. Like the facade, the walls are white and the floors and trim is black. The blue velvet dining chairs looks super soft and comfy.

On the other side of the fireplace wall is a living area.  Let us take a closer look:

*

Gray sofas with purple throw pillows and a glass chandelier to add a bit of glamour.

*

The kitchen is white with marble counter tops and brushed steel kitchen appliances.

*

I love how the glassware is arranged by color in the cabinet.

Isn’t this little girls room adorable?

This is definitely a room to grow up in.

This I presume is the master bedroom. It is  seafoam green and white, with a huge bed with nailhead trim. Love the pops of color brought in by the purple lampshades. This room was later painted a deep grey, which, according to Kishani “complrtely transformed the vibe of the space from beachy to moody”.
