Gwyneth Paltrow’s Home
I think it is really fascinating to look into the homes of the rich and famous, as they have all the means to create the perfect home. This time we will take a look into actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s Long Island home. So here we go:
*

*

This is our actress in her gorgeous living room. Gwyneth obviously like her home light and classic with pops of pastels. On a side note, I adore her dress!

Here is another view of the living room. The cool blue sofas are balanced with warm pops of fuchsia.

*

This staircase in very simple and modern, but the wallpaper adds a warmer more “liveable” atmosphere than if it was left white.

Gwyneth has pale floors all over her home.

This dining room is the epitome of simple romantic design. The Swarovski blossom chandelier is available here for those of you who can afford it. It is $27,350.00.

*

This is Gwyneth’s daughter Apple’s bedroom. In keeping with the rest of the house, this bedroom is light and airy, with splashes of fuchsia for a girly princess look.

The kitchen has matte black cabinets and beige tiling.

Two white chandeliers adds a bit of glamour over the kitchen island, and makes a great contrast to the black cabinets.

Actress Molly Sims’ Home
I came across these pictures of actress Molly Sims’ beautiful home on Luxist, and as I saw the kitchen photo, I remembered reading about this home on Interior designer Kiahani Perera’s blog. Kishani, one of my favorite designers, is in fact a good friend of our actress, and is behind Molly’s Hollywood Hills home, so let’s take a look:
(you can click the pics to see full size on Luxist)
*
Molly has a white house with beautiful black details. I really like the larger-than-life potted trees, very simple and dramatic.
*
This is Molly’s dining room. Like the facade, the walls are white and the floors and trim is black. The blue velvet dining chairs looks super soft and comfy.
*
On the other side of the fireplace wall is a living area. Let us take a closer look:
*
Gray sofas with purple throw pillows and a glass chandelier to add a bit of glamour.
*
The kitchen is white with marble counter tops and brushed steel kitchen appliances.
*
I love how the glassware is arranged by color in the cabinet.
*
Isn’t this little girls room adorable?
*
This is definitely a room to grow up in.
*
This I presume is the master bedroom. It is seafoam green and white, with a huge bed with nailhead trim. Love the pops of color brought in by the purple lampshades. This room was later painted a deep grey, which, according to Kishani “complrtely transformed the vibe of the space from beachy to moody”.
See the result on Kishani’s blog here.
*
The bathroom is white too.
*
Here is the second living room, with a flatscreen TV.
*
Last but not least is Molly’s home office. I have posted some images of this room before on this website, and here are some more:
*

The wall seems a lot more purple in these photos.

Here is the same office, revamped for a photo shoot for Molly Sims’ jewelry line.

And here is the beautiful actress in her equally beautiful home!

For upholstered furniture there are 53 beautiful fabrics to choose from. Needless to say, this is fun! Lets check out some of their colorful furniture:
*

Bright turquoise walls with beige and yellow. This surf chic living room is all about happy colors.
*

That shade of turquoise is a bit on the bright side for me, but I love how it is repeated throughout the accents. And btw I am strangely attracted to the sofa fabric.. so pretty!
*

Now this is a cute dining area! The beige, turquoise and yellow work perfectly together.
*

Purple side table with orange fishes. Almost like a built-in vignette. No worries about decorating that table top!
*

This must be the most crazy color combo yet. I feel like a cartoon character just by looking at it! I would think any weather would be gray when you walk out of this entryway.
*

This lavender blue, turquoise and green nursery is the cutest! The wave detail on the crib is my favorite part.
*

More waves in this bedroom. I see 6 fishes.
*

Orange and pink is one of my favorite color combos. Perfect for a little girls room.
*
To make it even more fun, Russell & Mackenna is offering you, my wonderful readers, 40 % off of all furniture in their online store!

Breathtaking Bedroom Transformation!
I love this bedroom makeover. Editor of Decorating Magazine Lacey Howard transforms a plain white bedroom into a warm and welcoming delight of taupe, corals and pinks:
*
The Bed:

Before the makeover starts, this bedroom is pretty much a clean canvas of white. The white ribbon on the bedsheets..
*

… is exchanged for a coral one. New bedside table and white plates as wall decor. A small vignette is created on the bedside table with a framed pink painting and a bouquet of flowers. This transformation is awesome! Rich warm colors.
*
The Closet:

The folding doors of the closet are removed.
*

And replaced with curtains for a softer and more open feel. The curtain rod is wider than the actual closet to make the closet look bigger. Now there is not just a wall with a closet, the whole wall is the closet. Love the warmer shade in the closet.
*
The Dresser/Desk:

This is the dresser you saw in the closet, and it has been replaced by..
*

The former pink nightstand. A glass side table turns this nook into a tiny home office slash vanity. To really make this alcove feel like a space of its own, the walls are covered in beautiful beige butterfly wallpaper.
*
The Seating Area:

The seating area was clean, simple and pretty before..
*

.. but absolutely stunning after! The coral pink curtains placed wider than the actual window frame makes the window look a lot bigger, and frames the sofa perfectly. The floor lamp (which was moved to the bed) is replaced with a white shell chandelier, and white ottoman tables and recliner each received new slipcovers.
This is definitely how you do pink room without it looking like a little girls room.

Pink Suede Bedroom Walls
HGTV’s Rate My Space user Adordesign has padded one of her bedroom walls with a pink-beige suede style fabric, and the result is spectacular!
*
The sectioned wall really brings out the depth and softness of the walls..
*
And the duvet cover and coverlet is so.. perfect! And to complete the soft theme, she places a pillow behind each bedside table lamp!
*
Side view. The tiny chandelier is so art deco. Love it.
*
You can see what she did with the rest of the suede fabric in her spare bedroom here!
*
Blue and Pink Bedroom
These pictures has been laying around on my computer for a while now, and I think they are too cute not to share:
*

White upholstered bed with pink accent pillows. I think the two mirrors on either side of the bed is perfect for this look! Classic romantic and sleek modern all in one!
*

White nightstands with white table lamp.
*

Between two tall slim windows is a white console table in front of a huge framed picture. Do you think the room is built around this picture, or did the owner get really lucky finding this picture?
*

A perfect shade of smoky blue color on the walls.
*
Images borrowed from HGTV’s Rate My Space!

Splendia
I love checking out hotel rooms (no pun intended) for design inspiration. Here are some ultra modern picks from the luxury hotel listing at Splendia:
*
Fuchisa and White:

White bedroom with Fuchsia carpet, curtains and feature wall.
*

Love the big floor mirror, even the frame is pink. And from the reflection in the mirror you can see the headboard is actually pink plexi glass.
*
Black and Gold:

This white bedroom has a gold leaf feature wall, and behind the bed is a shiny black headboard that extends to behind the bedside tables.
*

A closer look at the bed.
*

A black framed version of the floor mirror in the former room. This one even has sconces mounted on it.
*
White, Pink and Orange:

Pink and orange is usually one of my favorite color combos (aren’t they all?), but this one is a bit limp..
*

Curtains go all the way from ceiling down to the floor to make the room look taller.
*

I didn’t even realise the Barcelona chair came in orange!
*
Old Hollywood Glam
*

Cream living room with the prettiest windows ever! It would be a sin to cover those up with curtains, lol!
*

The beige sofa is pretty much backless.
*

A mirrored wall accent adds a touch of glamor to this living room, with good help from the multiple silver candlesticks in the fireplace.
*

The dining room is tan and coral. Fun bubble-chandelier!
*

The dining table looks more like a kitchen island to me. Tall and rigid.
*

One thing I always look for when I see a mirror, is the reflection of the photographer. Do you?

Colorfest by Kishani Perera!
I absolutely adore Kishani Perera’s use of color, I can’t think of anyone who uses color the same way as this girl. Take a look:
*

Coral red and antique-white two bed guest bedroom. The headboards are HOT! The bright color and bold fabric gives this room a 70’s vibe, but still it is so “now”!
*

This spectacular living room is painted a glossy gray all over. Even the huge bookshelf, which is placed directly behind the sofa, by the way. Hints of purple adds a regal touch, all topped of with a huge crystal chandelier.
*

Two shades of purple in this super modern bedroom. The crisp white details really pop!
*

Divine pink dining room. Nothing softens a room like light translucent curtains.. And what about the carpet? It’s pretty fabulous, right?
*

Orange hallway with crisp white furniture and accents. The lamp is designed by Jonathan Adler:
*
*
How about you? Are you bold enough to take on bright colors like these? Do you think you would grow bored of a bright color quicker than of a neutral color?

Hot Pink
*

Silvery gray living room with deep red accents. I really enjoy the symmetry in this room, and does that painting remind you of a bar code?
*

Hot pink and white girls bedroom. What kid wouldn’t enjoy a hammock in their room?
*

Hot pink and white guest bedroom.
*

Brown and white master bedroom with hot pink and orange accents! Lots of crazy patterns in here!
*

From this view, we can see that the carpet is pink too.
