Contemporary Glam
Jeneration Interiors is behind this fabulous home of contemporary bliss. We have seen a lot of bright colors in contemporary design lately, so this more muted palette is a nice change around here.
*

So many lovely details, where do we start? Well, how about the gorgeous wall color? It looks like Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal. The furnishings and accents are really dramatic, with pops of “muddy” colors and glass ornaments for a touch of glam. Lets take a closer look at this living room:
*

Everything in this room is fabulous, from the glass orbit chandelier to the black and white geometric area rug to the black and brass bamboo beach style chair.
*

The black and gold credenza is the perfect base for a simple but dramatic vignette. It is all about proportion here, just look at the fantastic wing chair and the coffee table. The horn end table is available at Z Gallerie.
*

A black chandelier lights up this reflective chrome dining table. One row of deep red dining chairs is exchanged for a white-and-brass bench seat.
*

Here’s more of the cool vases like the ones on the coffee table.
*

Can’t omit this beautiful vignette. Is it just me or is this huge? Look at the winged chair and the brass chair in comparison.. They both look tiny! Another great example of dramatic proportion.
(Learn how to create a perfect vignette here!)
*

The black details are exchanged for brown to keep a softer look for this bedroom. Again, Jennifer of Jeneration Interiors plays with proportion.
*

This cozy nook for dining includes bench seating and white marble table top. The art deco chandelier is really making it’s way back in the world of contemporary design.

Modern Grays
*

A lovely gray living room. The large clean surfaces are broken up with subtle patterns and textures on fabrics, adding depth and interest to the room. The focal point of this room is obviously the fantastic painting over the sofa:
*

I love these painting, but I can’t for the life of me remember who the artist is. Do you?
UPDATE: It hit me like a rock; painting is by James Nares!!
*

This is a second seating area. Those sofas are the hotness!
*

Gorgeous greige bedroom with a simple seating area for relaxing with a good book.

Vintage Cottage Bedroom
*
Fun idea: use a mantle as a frame for your headboard! We already saw how to use a mantle to camouflage the TV when not watching.
*
The padded headboard is simply placed inside the mantle (or is it the other way around?)
*
Cute bedroom. Very girly.

Brown and Blue Modern Bedroom
I absolutely love peeking into the homes of “normal people” and see what design solutions they have come up with. This bedroom from HGTV’s Rate My Space added by user Drmerwoman, I found particularly beautiful and inspiring:
*
A soft taupe colored wall and carpet is topped of with a slightly lighter beige ceiling. Deep brown furniture, and the bed looks to be upholstered with some sort of velour or suede. A hint of color is introduced through teal colored throw pillows.
*
I love how she didn’t go overboard on the color, but keeps it very toned down and in the same color depth as the walls. This makes the white really pop! The quilt is so structural and pretty, it is from pottery barn, get it here!
*
The infamous white Barcelona Chair fits in perfectly with its sleek timeless design. Paired with a silver finish side table and white shaded floor lamp, it constitutes the perfect little reading corner.
*

Mimosa and Cream
*

A ray of sunshine from one of my favorite designers, Eileen Kathryn Boyd. I love the classic cream color hues she put together with mimosa yellow. In most cases the yellow would really take all of your eyes attention when paired with a neutral background, but see how Eileen has balanced the color throughout the room. The chairs and throw pillows are the major sources of color, and the yellow ribbons on the curtains balance the color throughout the room. It is all in the symmetry and balance here. Olive Green and Greige Living room
Take a look at this gorgeous living room designed by Kim Coleman:
*

Greige and cream living room with olive green (my fave color) chairs and details.
*

I love how Kim combines ultra classic with super modern. You wouldn’t guess there would be a zebra skin rug in this living room from looking at the top pic, would you?

One Bedroom, Four Ways!
It is always fun to see what a huge impact all the little details in a room make. This bedroom from House to Home is done in four different ways, lets take a look:
*
A lovely calm and sophisticated bedroom with cream walls and carpets, accented by cold brown, white and peachy pinks. The medium stained wood furniture really brings warmth to this room.
*
The same room, with an ice cold make over. The walls have been painted a cold shade of blue, the furniture is light and bare, and the accessory color is a neutral white. The low headboard allows for a pretty winter landscape painting above the bed.
*
A cold jewel purple wall color is heated up by a warm tone of pink in this romantic country style bedroom. The bed has gone from wood to white metal. Frame-less mirrors in all shapes and sizes decorate the walls.
UPDATE: View Paint Color Suggestion for this Room here!
*
A very neutral tone of greige on the walls, with simple white furniture. And to save this room from bland-ness, the accessory color is a subtle yellow. Very pretty!
*
It strikes me what a huge difference the choise of furniture makes. The first and last room both have pretty neutral wall colors,
Glamorous Baby Nursery
*
Have you ever seen a baby nursery like this? The theme is glamour, and it is put to life with a color scheme of grey and cold purple.
*
The most glamorous changing furniture ever.. with built in trash cans. That mirror is…
*
..a changing table!
*
I know there are a lot of controversy around putting a chandelier in a baby nursery, but it’s all good when it isn’t placed directly over the crib, right? It sure adds to the theme. And the ceiling is just amazing!

Taupe and White Designs
*
I often think a white room is too bare and cold, but combined with this gentle tone of taupe and rich brown, becomes warm and inviting. Love the branch, wish we could see more of it =(
*
Beautiful taupe and white seating area with metal daybed and solid block of wood as a side table.
*
More taupe and white in this clean cut bathroom. Great dark wood console with lots of drawers!
*
Timeless Tans
*
Beautiful cream dining room with classic dark wood furniture and natural green accents.
*
Brown and cream living room with a big soft cream colored couch. Simple geometric furniture. Love that hard/soft contrast.
*
Grey and soft beige classic bedroom with gorgeous rich brown wooden furniture.
*
A brown faux leather zebra print chaise lounge adds a bit of fun!
