San Francisco based design firm Charles De Lisle Workshop specializes in artisan designed furnishings, lighting and art. Who’s up for some artistic eye candy?

*

beige and dark royal blue modern classic living room with plexi glass coffe table with rope knot

Have you ever seen a coffee table like that? A pile of rope in a glass box. It looks so much better that it sounds.

*

classic living room

The ocean art on the right is really big. If you go back to the first picture, see how it is the perfect size behind the sofa, as if it was hanging right above it?  Impressing design!

*

modern classic living room with modern coffee table and blue sofa

Absolutely love the heavy raw wood console with the beautiful vignette contrasting both the classic architecture and the very sleek modern furniture. I want this!

*

The golden side tables probably specially designed by Charles De Lisle Workshop. If you can’t afford custom, both Neiman Marcus and Z Gallerie have alternatives.

*

The Color Palette: Wall color could be Pantone Warm Gray 3C, or the slightly less red analog BM Rollex Siding Cobblestone.

*

modern gray beige greige bedroom with dark floors

A calm and beautiful bedroom of beige and crisp white on dark hardwood floor. I don’t understand how one can make an orange Arne Jacobsen egg chair (1958) look so elegant!

Door frame says it all…

The contrast between simple modern furniture, raw materials and classic beauty is readily visible in this dining room too. Take a look at that light fixture!

Matte Drama

Posted under Beige, Brown, Dining room, Dramatic, Greige, Grey, Hottest Designers, Living room, Wallpaper / Tiles / Murals by theLennoxx on Friday 19 February 2010 at 9:33 pm

Interior Design husband and wife team Stephen and Gail  Huberman of SGH Interiors are behind these dramatically beautiful interiors:

*

matte greige living room

All walls are painted a matte gray color with crisp white ceiling and dark hardwood floors. The end wall of this living room is devoted to displaying beautiful sculptural items on custom built shelves. Take a look at the beautiful Gothic style mirror over the fireplace, and the cowhide bench.

*

modern matte gray livng room with book shelf

Using the same color as the walls on the shelves and other larger pieces like this beautiful wing chair, other items really stands out, like that console table. It looks like a half wheel with arrow spokes. Wish we could see the rest of it.

*

modern living room matte greige

A folding wall with a blue and green landscape of trees is placed as a backdrop for what looks to be a staircase sculpture.

*

matte gray dining room

The “heavy” matte walls are repeatedly contrasted by tall transparent glass items such as candle sticks, vases and apothecary jars.  I really like the way this dining table is framed by the etageres.

*

black matte wall

Have you ever seen texture like this on a wall? Me neither!

Contemporary Glam

Posted under Bedroom, Beige, Brown, Dining room, Glamorous, Greige, Grey, Hottest Designers, Living room, Modern, Vignettes by theLennoxx on Saturday 9 January 2010 at 8:38 pm

Jeneration Interiors is behind this fabulous home of contemporary bliss. We have seen a lot of bright colors in contemporary design lately, so this more muted palette is a nice change around here.

*

contemporary modern living room

So many lovely details, where do we start? Well, how about the gorgeous wall color? It looks like Benjamin Moore’s Kendall Charcoal. The furnishings and accents are really dramatic, with pops of “muddy” colors and glass ornaments for a touch of glam. Lets take a closer look at this living room:

*

modern contemporary living room taupe with yellow couch and chandelier

Everything in this room is fabulous, from the glass orbit chandelier to the black and white geometric area rug to the black and brass bamboo beach style chair.

*

living room

The black and gold credenza is the perfect base for a simple but dramatic vignette. It is all about proportion here, just look at the fantastic wing chair and the coffee table. The horn end table is available at Z Gallerie.

*

contemporary modern dining room

A black chandelier lights up this reflective chrome dining table. One row of deep red dining chairs is exchanged for a white-and-brass bench seat.

*

Here’s more of the cool vases like the ones on the coffee table.

Can’t omit this beautiful vignette. Is it just me or is this huge? Look at the winged chair and the brass chair in comparison.. They both look tiny! Another great example of dramatic proportion.

(Learn how to create a perfect vignette here!)

*

contemporary modern bedroom

The black details are exchanged for brown to keep a softer look for this bedroom. Again, Jennifer of Jeneration Interiors plays with proportion.

*

contemporary modern dining area

This cozy nook for dining includes bench seating and white marble table top. The art deco chandelier is really making it’s way back in the world of contemporary design.

Modern Grays

modern gray living room

A lovely gray living room. The large clean surfaces are broken up with subtle patterns and textures on fabrics, adding depth and interest to the room. The focal point of this room is obviously the fantastic painting over the sofa:

I love these painting, but I can’t for the life of me remember who the artist is. Do you?

UPDATE: It hit me like a rock; painting is by James Nares!!

This is a second seating area. Those sofas are the hotness!

romantic cottage style bedroom

Fun idea: use a mantle as a frame for your headboard! We already saw how to use a mantle to camouflage the TV when not watching.

*

fireplace mantle headboard

The padded headboard is simply placed inside the mantle (or is it the other way around?)

Cute bedroom.  Very girly.

Brown and Blue Modern Bedroom

Posted under Bedroom, Brown, Greige, Modern by theLennoxx on Wednesday 11 November 2009 at 2:23 pm

I absolutely love peeking into the homes of “normal people” and see what design solutions they have come up with. This bedroom from HGTV’s Rate My Space  added by user Drmerwoman, I found particularly beautiful and inspiring:

*

light brown white and teal blue modern bedroom

A soft taupe colored wall and carpet is topped of with a slightly lighter beige ceiling. Deep brown furniture, and the bed looks to be upholstered with some sort of velour or suede. A hint of color is introduced through teal colored throw pillows.

*

brown white blue modern bedroom with white sunburst mirror and wood art

I love how she didn’t go overboard on the color, but keeps it very toned down and in the same color depth as the walls. This makes the white really pop! The quilt is so structural and pretty, it is from pottery barn, get it here!

*

brown bedroom with white barcelona chair, round silver side table and white floor lamp

The infamous white Barcelona Chair fits in perfectly with its sleek timeless design. Paired with a silver finish side table and white shaded floor lamp, it constitutes the perfect little reading corner.

*

Mimosa and Cream

Posted under Bright, Classic, Greige, Hottest Designers, Living room, Yellow by theLennoxx on Friday 6 November 2009 at 12:40 pm

*

greige and yellow modern living room

A ray of sunshine from one of my favorite designers, Eileen Kathryn Boyd. I love the classic cream color hues she put together with mimosa yellow. In most cases the yellow would really take all of your eyes attention when paired with a neutral background, but see how Eileen has balanced the color throughout the room. The chairs and throw pillows  are the major sources of color, and the yellow ribbons on the curtains balance the color throughout the room.  It is all in the symmetry and balance here. Take a look at this gorgeous living room designed by Kim Coleman:

Greige and cream living room with olive green (my fave color) chairs and details.

I love how Kim combines ultra classic with super modern. You wouldn’t guess there would be a zebra skin rug in this living room from looking at the top pic, would you?

One Bedroom, Four Ways!

Posted under Bedroom, Beige, Blue, Classic, Greige, Makeover, Purple, Romantic/Country, Soft/ Light by theLennoxx on Friday 11 September 2009 at 4:24 pm

It is always fun to see what a huge impact all the little details in a room make. This bedroom from House to Home is done in four different ways, lets take a look:

*

Cream bedroom with taupe greige and white details

A lovely calm and sophisticated bedroom with cream walls and carpets, accented by cold brown, white and peachy pinks. The medium stained wood furniture really brings warmth to this room.

*

ice cold blue and white bedroom

The same room, with an ice cold make over. The walls have been painted a cold shade of blue, the furniture is light and bare, and the accessory color is a neutral white. The low headboard allows for a pretty winter landscape painting above the bed.

*

purple lilac white pink romantic country bedroom

A cold jewel purple wall color is heated up by a warm tone of pink in this romantic country style bedroom. The bed has gone from wood to white metal. Frame-less mirrors in all shapes and sizes decorate the walls.

UPDATE: View Paint Color Suggestion for this Room here!

*

grey cream taupe white yellow bedroom

A very neutral tone of greige on the walls, with simple white furniture. And to save this room from bland-ness, the accessory color is a subtle yellow. Very pretty!

*

It strikes me what a huge difference the choise of furniture makes. The first and last room both have pretty neutral wall colors,

Glamorous Baby Nursery

*

grey and purple glamorous baby nursery

Have you ever seen a baby nursery like this? The theme is glamour, and it is put to life with a color scheme of grey and cold purple.

*

glamorous style nursery changing table

The most glamorous changing furniture ever.. with built in trash cans. That mirror is…

*

pulldown baby change table

..a changing table!

*

grey and purple glamorous bedroom with draped ceiling and chandelier

I know there are a lot of controversy around putting a chandelier in a baby nursery, but it’s all good when it isn’t placed directly over the crib, right? It sure adds to the theme. And the ceiling is just amazing!
