Architectural Delight
This fantastic apartment was featured in Architectural Digest as a Before and After feature. The thing that really strikes me, apart from the playful color palette, is the shiny ceilings:
*

Turquoise and chocolate brown living room. When you have a large feature that you want to stand out, like the huge silver mirror, you can “frame” it by opting for one chandelier on each side, instead of one in front. The gold ceiling is beautiful and functional as it reflects the light from the pair of lanterns. I am absolutely in love with the chocolate colored sofa.
*

The second living room is a deep purple color, accented with various shades of blues and aubergine. The area rug is hot!
*

This turquoise and white kitchen is amazing! I love the seating area furniture!
*

The bedroom walls and ceiling is completely covered in a patterned silver and white wall covering. The result is amazing, as the light is reflected everywhere, washing out all boundaries. It’s like a red bed in a cloud, lol!

You always have the best posts! The first picture is my favorite it makes me think of barbarian warriors for some reason. And the last post with the wall stickers was so do-able. Someone needs to try the chandelier sticker and the chairs by the mirror!
And you always have the best comments =)
wow this is so cute…. i feel it has some indian/eastern influences in the design like the chandeliers and the red and white bedroom
Hi Rabia, welcome back! I totally see the exotic elements here, what with the leopard prints and the chandeliers.
OOooo, nydelige rom!
i never left this blog! i check out your posts daily =)
p.s. any idea how they did the reflective ceilings/walls? the bedroom esp is sooooo fancy n pretty
Aw, good thing you never left Rabia!
The ceilings throughout the home is actually silver (not gold as I wrote) and according to AD it was “papered and lacquered in silver”.
In the bedroom a “patterned paper” was used, it was from Brunschwig & Fils
but I could not find anything that looks similar on there. Might be from a former collection.
Just interested; are you contemplating painting your ceiling? I love painted ceilings!
O no! not with the small room i have (also its my parents house lol so i can’t do anything they don’t approve of)
but just wondering for the future because it really was a beautiful idea
lol, I see. Though you could argue that shiny walls would reflect light and make the room look larger =O
